Historically, Tremé has been home to some legendary musicians:

Alphonse Picou: 1878-1961, Clarinet
Buddy Bolden: 1877-1931, Coronet
Chris Kelly: 1890 -1929, Trumpet
George Lewis: 1900 -1968, Clarinet
Henry Ragas: 1891-1919, Piano
James Black: 1940-1988, Drums
Jellyroll Morton: 1885-1941, Piano
Jimmie Noone: 1895-1944, Clarinet
Sidney Bechet: 1897-1959, Sax & Clarinet
Earl Palmer: 1924-2008, Drums

Today, it is the home of future legends who keep New Orleans music alive, such as: Tremé Brass Band, Rebirth Brass Band, Glen David Andrews, Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews, James Andrews, Kermit Ruffins, Shannon Powell.
